
Fred (Redeye) Wampler, 90, passed away August 16, 2016, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.
He was born February 18, 1926 in Wise County, Virginia. He was an Army Paratrooper during WWII. He was a former employee of OI Brockway Glass and Anaconda Wire and Cable. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and 40 & 8. Fred loved racing, cooking, sports, cats, dogs, watching birds, and spending time with his family.
Fred is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred Jean (Broyles) Wampler; daughters, Sharon (Richard, deceased) May and Beverly (Lee) Carey; grandchildren, Tony May, Misty DeMarco, Kara Broyles, and Ashley Carey; great-grandchildren, Kelli Shockley, Sophia and Ava DeMarco, Matthew, Justin, Maegan, and Jacob Broyles; one great-great-grandchild, Jensen Shockley; siblings, Bill and Faye; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 10 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service with military rites will be held Friday, August 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Anderson VFW Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave., Anderson, IN 46013. Visitation will be held from noon until service time.
